JK Scanlan

Client Introduction

In less than 25 years, JK Scanlan has grown into one of the largest commercial contracting firms in Massachusetts with over 60 employees doing projects in 8 states. They credit their success in New England’s competitive construction industry to their philosophy that “Teams Build Buildings.” Their goal is to be “Best in Class” compared to other quality construction firms, and to be “World Class” by any standard.

Unique Challenge

JK Scanlan suspected their marketing materials were not “up to code” when they didn’t win a key project. The managers believed JK Scanlan lost the bid because their proposal didn’t look like it came from a ‘big professional construction company’. So what began as a formatting project for their proposals turned into a comprehensive re-design of their marketing materials and website. One of the key challenges was to literally “reconstruct” all the major past projects so they could be showcased on their website as well as in electronic communications. The company was going after another huge project so, of course, they needed it yesterday.

Successful Solution

Creating a professional format for their proposals was the first of many assignments. We renovated their corporate image, re-worked their website and designed a Corporate identity for their new residential division. Our ongoing project work with this prestigious client continues today. Of note is an addition of a private section to their website that is used by their contractors for internal project management and blueprint downloads. Saving 60% of their blueprint printing costs now goes straight to the bottom line, and it is getting rave reviews from the architects and contractors as well.
